We Gladly Feast on Those Who Would Subdue Us by Roxanna Bennett
Gordon Hill Press, 2026.
Roxanna Bennett’s We Gladly Feast on Those Who Would Subdue Us is a thoughtful contribution to disability poetics that forces the reader to look closely but also allow the words to collect and move through them to create a larger picture. Bennett uses “found” poetry to create a collage effect in these three long poems that comment on disability, disorder, and the strange power of enduring. Many voices sing, yell, and stammer throughout the collection, all making themselves heard, all working towards a greater whole.
