A witch’s guide to burning, aminder dhaliwal

Drawn and Quarterly, 2024

So colourful is Aminder Dhaliwal's black-and-white illustrated graphic novel, the Eisner-nominated A Witch's Guide to Burning! Dhaliwal breaks away from the satirical comic strip-style graphics of her earlier work (like the uproariously funny Woman World and Cyclopedia Exotica) to tell the story of a young witch who has been burned at the stake. Dhaliwal uses illustrative techniques that evoke visual poetry to tell the story, often making it feel more like an interactively illustrated novella. Highly recommended for anyone who needs to go on a journey of healing or self-rediscovery.
